hi guys, when i read tabs i understand everthing except for what is the p mean or in other words pull off? i know what hammer is i know what slide and stuff is, but the p kind of gets me. please explain.

You are correct that the p is indicating to pull off from one note to another. So it is just the opposite of the hammer on that you already know. As an example: a pulloff from the C note on the first string to the B note on the first string would look something like
Code:
-3p2----
--------
--------
--------
So you simply pluck the C note (3) and while the note is still sounding you pull off with, in my case, the pinky sounding the B note. The finger used to do the pull off is what plucks or sounds the second note.

3p2 means to put one finger on the 2nd fret, and, quickly, put another finger on the third fret and, well, pull it off. It's like picking a note with a "chord hand" finger
