Song Help Request Every Breath You Take Help

Im a begginer and trying to figure out how to play this song:

im having trouble figuring out what he does at around 9 seconds. as well as various other parts so if anyone could give me a run-down it would be very helpful. It says that it is based on this:

but obviously its a little different

the youtube video you watched is based off of the tab by dominator but with some big time modifications. IF you were to play the tab it would sound pretty different. Basically whenever a he gets to a chord he strums out a down chunk up down chunk pattern instead of each individual chord note. and at the 9 second mark he picks the top two strings seperately then strums the chord he is on which looks to be a Dm. he also speeds up during the entire song and adds his own really long ending along with a portion of the intro to the end. pretty difficult rendition that he does for a first time uke player but he does use the dominator tab with several changes.
