My instrument of choice is actually the Hugh Tracey Alto Kalimba (With a pick-up) I first saw a tourist gourd kalimba in a Eugene, OR music shop as a child and was instantly captivated . I found out that they were made as professional quality instruments and the rest is history!

Anyone else like this family of instruments? (lamellephone)
I noticed that I have a preoccupation with more portable instruments that I can walk around while playing. Or fit in a backpack.

check out Colorado Soundscapes. They make a Kalimba that must be the cream of the crop--at least that's what I think of mine!!!!

Have a few Kalimbas I want to build on my "to do" list.........it's a very long one. One on a cigar box, the other on a soprano uke body using a C.B. Gitty hardware kit. I also want to put a piezo pickup in them.

in the models of kalimba, I like the hokema. They have a good sound, and a good touch. They made in Germany by mister Hokema.
The Hugh Tracey Kalimba are good too.
