How to properly strum a ukulele??

I tend to use my thumb more with old timey blues songs

I'm on my computer, and the gear is not offering me an option to slow it down. Oh well. I tried. It's a neat song. Very beautiful!

but I do strum a bit ....not Hawaiian, but a bit ....
