I recently received bought my first ukulele, and I'd like to upgrade the strings. But the strings I have on right now are black and I really like how it looks. I can't find any pictures of the actual lava series strings or if they sound the same so I hope someone can help me on here. Thank you in advance.

Do they look black? How do they sound?

I couldn't find them on amazon, but heres a set I found on ebay. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Aquila-Lava...ode-110U-/271710727314?_trksid=p2054897.l4275

Fremont Blacklines are good strings.....

I have seen the Aquila Lava black strings for sale on both ukuleleworld.com and elderly.com, and these are completely different strings from the Fremont Blacklines strings.

I am planning to order some of the Aquila Lava black strings soon to try them out.

I should warn you that the Fremont Blacklines concert and tenor strings, for both the MEDIUM tension and HIGH tension strings, BOTH have much higher tension than ANY other strings I've tried *which are MANY*, yes including other fluorocarbon strings, so make sure your uke is braced well internally by it's maker, and can take the added stress, otherwise bad things can happen :(

The word Ive read was they are the same as the white Aquila strings just black to honor the gods of the volcano. Hence the name Aquila "Lava". I wanted a couple of sets but cant justify the price difference over a set of Aquila red that are actually something different besides color.

Whats that low moan coming from my Hawaiian ukulele?

I have a first gen pineapple flea with the original black strings on it still. Would anyone know if those be Fremont Blacklines?

Yes, Aquila strings do come in black. Aurora Strings have black Aquila strings and other colors as well. They're just dyed Aquila Nylgut strings and Aurora calls them Silkgut. I bought a set of blue and pink before, the same as Aquila Nylgut's. Here's links with info and where to buy:

So the Aurora silkgut strings are the same as the Aquilla? I might try these then, thank you!

Aquila's Lava series strings are reported to have tiny flecks of of MOP or something like that in them....
