In the article 'Vox Populi" in the Spring 2015 edition of UKULELE magazine, Victoria mentions her interest in uke rhythms and strumming techniques. She particularly refers to the "two-and-four backbeat rhythm". I'd like to know about this and strumming techniques in general. Suggestions/ help?

back·beat
\ˈbak-ˌbēt\
noun
:a steady pronounced rhythm stressing the second and fourth beats of a four-beat measure

Doesn't sound like anything specific to Vox.

For D U D U D U D U, Ralph Shaw describes the backbeat as wimpy strong wimpy strong. The first and third down up is strummed softly, the second and fourth is strummed forcefully. That gives you the backbeat.

Thanks Bonesoup. I realize that this is simple stuff I've been doing all along. Just the way that Victoria stated it had me confused.
