Ukulele Haiku - 1 min songlets

I think of this one as a songlet. Nothing I've written to elongate this piece seems to fit but feel free to play with it :)

Umbrella, umbrella
Keeps the rain right off my neck
Umbrella
Wish that you had one too
Umbrella

The haiku contest
It seems just like yesterday
I came in dead last. :D

One minute per song
Or should I say a songlet
Lets all just have fun

Dark, hot and humid
He lurks deep in the shadows
Entertaining dreams

haiku haiku ooh
baby i've got a haiku
have you got one too?

here in Singapore

"Songlet or haiku?"
... says Joo. Sometimes a haiku
Is just a haiku.

Songlet is a child
Haiku is a grown woman
Or maybe a man

This is all your fault
I can't stop writing haikus
Instead of working

Please don't say it's me
I am only sitting here
Peeling my Chikus

Five syllables first
And then there must be seven
Oh! s**! I give up!

Oh! Boy! Pabrizzer!
Rules are made to be broken
Oh! s**! Gotta go!

We call him Rusty
But his real name is Russell
His sound in the reeds

Your voice is so nice.
Your song is so fine. Again!
Thank you very much.

Ukey, Ukey oh
Got a new ukulele
I can't play it yet

Every lovely uke
Needs to sing with a haiku
Or a Tootling Geoff.

typing words ain't right
it should have a melody
i can't hear the song

I hear Geoff's keyboard
As he typed U k u l e l e
But no melody

Here's a haiku songlet about my favorite rock song to play on ukuele - "White Room" by Cream:

Few things can be more
Satisfying than "White Room"
On ukulele

56 seconds!

How about screaming
Loudly in a library?
Have you tried it yet?

Rockin' out on uke
Is my favorite thing to do
Playin' with my band

For me I prefer
Sitting here with my honey
Watching the TV

One more quickie before I head out. Here's where I'm going:

Every Wednesday night
I go play the open mic
At the Sam Ash store

Ash Wednesday!

Yes! I know! I saw!
I think you are really good
At those open mics

Speaking of Punk or Thrash Metal, here's some mosh pit uke fun with Joo's fabulous painting "Posessions"

It's on my head (x4)
a car, a chair, a wife a cat
a dog, a hat, my mother in law!
it's on my head (x several)
my bow tie is askew

and my pants are too high.

First time Ive found FB inspirational. It hit me right away :)

Sitting around chewing the fat
Spitting out a tune
Obla dee
La da dee dee
Bet'cha wanna play with me, Come on
Pull up a chair
Deal me in
We're playing for a ukulele

thank goodness Linda has departed
from that miserly 5, 7, 5!
She has always been generous
And humorous, too !
And, what a lovely photo of these guys!

a single eyebrow
raised, becomes a work of art
i delight in it

Mee Too.

It is interesting how many of you can look at Joo's pictures and your mind is flooded with lyrics. I look at them and nothing. I don't mean that in a bad way Joo, they are very cool but its just like my mind doesn't see them in a way that produces any particular thoughts...weird.

I had no idea
Haikus were conversations
And would be answered!

Songlet is a child
Haiku is a grown woman
Or maybe a man

Maybe real haikus
Are grown-up adult people.
Mine are very young.

Please don't say it's me
I am only sitting here
Peeling my Chikus

Maybe it's BirdsEye.
I have to blame somebody.
Surely isn't me. :)

I am so jealous
You get to sit there eating
Tropical fruits. Yum!

How about screaming
Loudly in a library?
Have you tried it yet?

Oddly, I have not.
I am not afraid of much.
But that one scares me!

Surely that must be
Illegal in Singapore.
Have you? Really? Nooooooo!

But playing "White Room"
In the library ... with band
That I would SO do.

For me I prefer
Sitting here with my honey
Watching the TV

You have a honey?
When can we see said honey
In a video? :)

Yes! I know! I saw!
I think you are really good
At those open mics

Aw, gee, thanks so much!
I just do what's fun for me.
Glad you like it too!

Me three.

Oh, thank you for saying that ... I thought it was just me. Probably if I sat with them for a bit I could come up with something. But I certainly did not have that experience at first glance. Many things give me song ideas ... far too many things, probably ... or haiku ideas ... things people say, other songs, things that happen ... but I can't remember ever having that response to an image. Maybe we are just more auditory people? I used to think I was a visual person, but lately I think I am much more auditory after all. I have trouble with visualization too.

It's interesting to see how different different people can be. I think it's a good thing to embrace our differences and give ourselves permission to explore and discover what works for us individually. Which can include discovering what doesn't.

Though often exploring stuff we initially resist can lead to breakthroughs. I know there have been many Seasons themes that worked that way for me, and I've been really grateful for working past the resistance and getting to the magic beyond. So now maybe I will go back and play with those images after all.....

Anyway, it's all good!

Those tropical fruits!
I do love me some duku
We called them langsat

And...

Lovely mangosteen
The queen of tropical fruits
Red stains everywhere

Having fruit envy.
I need to come visit you!
Tomorrow. Right now.

Internet cat pics
Make me smile. It's no wonder
I get no work done.

There, I have done it
I wrote a silly haiku
From a photograph

Reference #4 : Possessions - haiku response

I have too much stuff
It weighs me down ... I feel I'm
Sinking in the mud

Who are these people
And what are they doing here
On top of my head?

Joo, my artist friend
Imagines all sorts of things
Incite-ful visions

Haikus from pictures
Okay, that wasn't so hard
And it's kind of fun

Fruit texture of tongue?
Looks like raw bloody chicken!
Sweet, she says it is.

Something, something uke.
Well the haiku part is fun.
Little music made.

Embraced by summer
A fragile dandelion
Lone in the breeze sways
