Hi Guys...
First of all, I just have to say how impressed I am with the build and finish of the S-1. It's the first time I have actually held a Martin and I love it! This is a used Martin that's about 2 years old and it's immaculate... it did have some terrible strings on it when it arrived so I have just put on some FREMONT 'Black Fluorocarbon Strings' (medium gauge) to see how the Martin responds and, although they are hardly stretched and settled in yet, the Martin is responding in a most delightful way... the body is resonating and tingling in my hands and the tone sounds sweet and clear.
I just have one question... I felt that the string action was a little high at the sound-hole end of the neck. It looks high but it measures 5 mm. I have another soprano which measures 5 mm and two others that both measure 4 mm. Is 5 mm the standard height of the S-1..? Cheers, John
