I agree with this advice. Printers in my house get a reserved IP address via DHCP, computers get a static IP, and anything on WiFi gets to pull from the DHCP pool from a specific range.

Yes, and the newer printers that have both WiFi and ethernet can latch on to either connection and unless we are savvy about how the printer drivers are set to connect to it, you cannot be sure which connection the printer and computer are actually using (most folks just don't know how this all works inside), unless of course, you are going old-school and connecting the printer over USB.

I have often found that cheap USB cables, such as ones purchased at the 'dollar store' tend to somehow just crap out after a few months, even if none of the devices have been moved or bumped or anything. Now I buy all my cables from monoprice.com, and with those cables, whether for computer or audio/video stuff, never had a problem.

I bought a pound of hops last night. Guess I should brew some beer. Although I am gonna add some hops to some cider for a nice dry hopped cider.

She could have. But, she was taking her friend from next door, who is in her mid-70s, and my new truck is difficult for her to get in and out of. It worked out. Her headlights were easy to access, and quick to change. I was just feeling a little "under the gun"....

Good morning, one and all! I should be working in the basement, but I'm finding it difficult to get motivated. Drywall finishing...mud and tape....is the next step, and I really dislike doing it. I'll get it done, but it'll be a struggle....

Just delivered some wine to Brandon Moore.

I'm stuck here, waiting for a contractor to arrive. It's hard to get involved in doing anything, as he might arrive at any time. At least they were nice enough to give us a two hour arrival window....some I've dealt with say, "anytime between 8am and 10pm"! I expect him between 10 and noon....

We've really been enjoying watching the wildlife at and on the pond behind our new house. The water is not far away, and we have a large picture window that looks over it from inside, and a deck that overlooks it from the outside.

Recently we've been getting lots of Canada geese. One day we counted over 80 at one time! Their annual migration must be starting. We also get ducks and great blue herons, and have even seen green herons, which are much less common. There is also a population of killdeer, frequent doves and occasional gulls. We have seen a red-tailed hawk, which are common here.

Elaine has seen coyotes at the pond, as many as three at once. I haven't seen them, yet, as they usually appear before I get up in the morning.

There are also turtles in the pond, and we have seen at least three, which are distinctly different in size. We have no idea how many there may be.

There are small fish in the pond, which is what attracts the herons. We have watched them fishing, and have seen them catch fish!

This pond was a big factor in our decision to build here. We're glad we did....

I forgot to mention the deer. We see them once in a while, too....

That would be cool, but we have to live by the homeowners association rules. They don't allow any outdoor structures being added....

The contractor has come and gone, so I'm free to start my day. I think I'll make a trip to the grocery store first....

Hey Sally, you should call before you make the trip. Most of the places only carry the k-cups. I went on a little coffee hunt this morning and stopped at five places. They all had the k-cups only.
