My late step-dad, who had a daughter from a previous marriage that was four years older than me, married my mom when I was 15. He enjoyed his beers, so once I had my permit I was frequently tasked with driving him around, which I loved.
He said once, "I LOVE having you drive, you don't scare me at all like Linda did!"

I miss him.

Sally, did your school have a classroom full of simulators?

Ours did. We called it the Stimulator.
The hood blowing open on that 1962 Falcon we were all driving was hilarious to me. Ours was in a trailer.

A cell phone went off in the middle of this and they started again but the whole intro they were improvising.

I'm not sure I understand what being "stuck" means in this context. Can you explain it, for someone with no experience?

Uncooperative, resistant, angry. He wants what he wants, but it isn't what's happening. So he just stops. Great big kid tantrum. Just not so loud.

Hell sometimes refuse to leave a restaurant with us, insisting that the prettiest girl host escort him out on his arm. That motivator we call "the pretty-girl method".

Gary, I loved the videos! It brings back memories of having been right there in that store with Damon a few years ago....

In other news, we have found a perfect new forever home for Ben, our cat. My friend and his family have adopted him, and he is thriving and adapting quickly. The family has four kids, from college age down to middle school age, and Ben's loving all of the attention he's been getting. Although it's a big change for him, I think it's all to his benefit, and that he'll be happier there, even though he seemed content here, too.

I'm happy it worked out this way, as it seems like a win-win scenario....

YAY! Ben needed lots of attention. I have been wondering about him.

I miss my Ellie . . .

Looking forward to a weekend of messing around on the property, weeding the garden, beekeeping, grilling out, drinking beer and maybe a little fishing.
