Wondered if anyone out there has used a bass keyboard pedal (using the feet) to play bass lines while playing ukulele. If so, what do you recommend? And do you have to have a midi controller or something - I don't know if there is one out there that you can plug straight into a speaker. Also, do you have one that plays an octave up when needed - I think a cello register is better than a bass register on a tenor uke. Thanks for any info you can give me! Haven't come across anyone who is interested in doing this.

I've seen a guitar player use a set of organ pedals to play bass while accompanying a country singer. This is something I've looked into because I've played with someone who knows how to play organ who has wanted to try bass pedals and guitar. It used to be about the only option was from Roland but there seem to be a few. You will need a midi controller. Changing octaves would be pretty much a basic function.

And this is another way to do it without using organ pedals:

Check out Jesse Fuller and his "fotdella" for a way to do it without using electrons! Might take a while to build and debug that, though.
