Good theme Sarah. There are a number of foreign language songs I would like to do. Iam not sure I know many Catalan Songs do you have some link suggestions?

Yes of course! I've added some links in the introduction post that I think it may be useful for you.

We ALL know this one.
But maybe not this way.
It's pretty sad plucking a gentle lark so I made it sound a little sadder.
In the interest of brevity I just plucked his head, neck and back.

Maybe Pidjin English counts, or Cockney - but I'm no good at either of them anyway. :uhoh:

I don't sing, so can I play a foreign melody instead.

Reckon this is going to be an interesting week to watch. ;)

I just looked up chords for a song in Italian, and the chords were in do-re-mi format. "This next chord is a fa sharp minor."

:uhoh:

Code:
               RE LA FA#m SOL RE
Stringo tra i denti le labbra e i miei pensieri, ricordo come ero ieri.
DO RE LA FA#m SOL RE
Ma perche' poi dovrei dimenticare, quel gioco d'oltremare.
DO RE DO LAm SOL MIm7
No non ci sto, salgo su un'auto che, mi porta via, via, via
SOL LA SIm SOL LA FA#m SOL LA
e allora si', torno a girare la', dove c'è musica.

The thing I love most about participating in the Seasons is that I always learn something. Something about music, playing music, our fellow Seasonistas, other cultures, and whatever else a clever theme will yield. Season 266 will certainly be no exception, and I hope I'm up to the challenge! Great theme, Sara.

Is it a song about flossing ? " Stringo tra i denti " String for the teeth ? No....I'll get me...no pardon,Je vais rapporter mon manteau et chapeau et allez vite !

Me and languages don't really get on. I did French at school for five years and failed the exam at the end of it. I did German for a year but gave it up. And since then, nothing. So what to do? Find a song with not many words, and do it in a language which (I hope) not many people around here speak - Esperanto.

If the chords are wrong, that's my fault. If the words are wrong, blame Google Translate.

For Season 266 of the ukulele we're asked to sing a song in a language other than our native tongue. Here's "Uber den Selbstmord" by Hanns Eisler and Bertolt Brecht - an amazing, super-downer of a tune. For tenor ukulele with singing.
English translation:
"In this country, and in this day and age, there should be no dark and lonely evenings. High bridges over the river, the hours before the morn, and the stark winter: all these are dangers. For in light of all the human misery, people won't linger, but will decide on sudden impulse to throw their unbearable lives away.”
