Risa LP tenor tobacco hardbody worth the dough?

Greetings all,

I'm think I'm about to pull the trigger on a Risa LP tenor tobacco hardbody.

Returned a Vorson because I found it too noisy and uneven.

Hoping the Risa is worth the dough.

I've read a lot of great threads here about the Risa.
Just wanted to get some recent opinions.

Are the pickups quiet when the uke is plugged in but you aren't playing?

Joshua, a hum is a common problem with single coil pickups. Some blame the pickups, some blame the house wiring, some blame fluorescent lights or dimmer switches, etc.. Some recommend turning to face a different direction when you play. Some recommend a special surge protector designed to eliminate the hum. In my case, it turned out to be a bad tube in my amplifier.

Humbucker pickups were developed to address this problem. The Risa has humbucker pickups.

My obsession started with the Vorson. $100? How could I go wrong?
Well, after getting a taste of what an electric, hard body uke could be, I was hooked.

This however is the first time I'e bought an instrument (beyond decorative) sight unseen.
From everything I've been reading, I think I'll be very happy.

We have so many ukes here at home. Mostly decorative. I've been playing Flukes for the last 15 years or so.
This electric uke has rekindled my uke obsession in the best way and led me here!

I did pick up a Zoom petal.

And just ordered an iRig2.

Been recording in GarageBand using the Rocksmith cable.

What fun!
