For sale is a gorgeous Pu’uwai tenor built in 2015 by Big Island luthier Woodley White. This uke is the total package with sound and looks.

Here’s the specs:

  • 5A nicely colored, highly figured Koa top, back and sides
  • Ebony wood binding top, back, headplate with burgundy purfling on top
  • Ebony fretboard and bridge
  • Lightweight open gear Waverly Tuners with ebony buttons
  • Spanish Cedar neck with carbon fiber truss rod
  • Side Soundport
  • Ebony or Ziricote ? rosettewith burgundy purfling
  • Koa headstock veneer with beautiful pearl and ebony inlay
  • Gloss finish
  • Hardshell case.

Pu’uwai ukuleles are built by Woodley White, past -President of the Big Island Ukulele Guild. This, highly figured master grade Koa is also tonally great and worth the upgrade. The uke has volume to spare and rates highly for rich and complex tones, paired with sustain, clarity, and projection. It’s loud, but loud in a sophisticated way, like a fine Classical guitar. But the sound is definitely a uke.

This is a gorgeous tenor, and is mint condition, essentially the way it left Woodley’s shop. While in mint condition there a couple small places where the gloss finish isn’t perfect (typical of a Pu'uwai). Woodley’s Pu'uwai ukes start at $2,500 without the higher grade Koa upgrade and inlay options.

*** Updated asking price of $1400 + shipping ***

This is a stunner for the eyes and ears, Hodge.

Best of luck with the sale, someone is going to have a wonderful Uke.

Wow, what wonderful looking wood....my credit card is lucky it ain't a concert size. The case is quite lovely too.

this is really beautiful. I'm sure you'll sell it with no problem

I was given the chance to play this uke when we visited Hodge. I still remember the rich tone and resonance. A beautiful instrument.

Hodge might be the best seller in the marketplace: wonderful ukes, good prices, always flawless unless otherwise clearly noted in his detailed description.

Thanks for all the great comments. Dropping my asking price to $1500.

If you haven't had the pleasure of dealing with Hodge, you are in for a real treat. His descriptions are dead on and you get what you see. This looks quite the Uke.

Thanks Lenny. You're too kind. I try to describe a uke, as best I can. Big Pictures and sound samples are essential to help with a description of any musical instrument.

A stunner and beautiful sound as well. Great playing Hodge!

Fantastic, all the way around. I would snap this up if I hadn't already sold myself into indentured servitude for my next uke.

$1450 for a Woodley White ukulele?? This is a wonderful deal. Tell your friends about it!!

This is a fabulous Uke.

I would have bought this already but I bought a Ko'olau Koa Uke ... from Hodge.

It was a pleasure buying from him and I would do it again, without a second thought.

The Uke arrived as described and I still love it today.

Thanks again folks for your kind words.
One more price reduction, now asking $1400 + shipping.
