I live in the borough (RBK&C) where this criminal loss of life took place. My next-door neighbour runs sports activities for disadvantaged children in the borough. He knew at least one of the missing children.
So far the borough has done nothing to help. Believe it or not, the relief effort is being coordinated by 6 other London boroughs (there's 32 of them in all). RBKC are not even in the loop. They left it entirely to the local community. Evening Standard.com: Simon Jenkins: The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea is incapable of looking after its own people
So, proud as I am of my local community (and overwhelmed as I am with the bravery & commitment of the fire services), I'm as mad as hell.
