Hey, I was wonder who UU folks are using for 3rd party hosting of photos?

I had been using the free Photobucket for years. Although, the site has been getting crappier/with more ads & popups all the time. Lately, I have been switching over to flickr.com and google.

Today Photobucket shut off all free 3rd party hosting/web linking, without notice. I don't blame them, but not ready to pay $100 to $400 per year for photo hosting. Lots of my old posts with photos used that site.
Now they just will display the following. :(

I have moved from Photobucket to flickr. Seems to work fine.

I use Google Photo's on every other forum sites I use but for some reason I can't link my Google Photo URL on this site. Error: Invalid file.

I've used Flickr for a million years, and it gets the job done, even if the interface is a bit awkward.

If you're an Amazon Prime member, you get 5GB free on Amazon Photos. Extremely easy to us and manage. If you need more storage, you get 100GB for $12/year.

I'm also using Flickr.

Flickr is good.

Holy crap, that sucks! And $400/year is the lowest level that allows "3rd party hosting" which has been ad-supported all this time? I predict a huge backlash/exodus. I know I'm looking elsewhere now.

Lots of folks I know, and myself use imgur.com for hosting photos.

Never had any issues and it works well.

It is also totally 'FREE', both free as in 'libre', and free as in 'beer'.

https://imgur.com

FYI: being that Verizon just bought Yahoo, and Yahoo owned flickr, I am worried that flickr might get shut down as Verizon swallows up and integrates it's new toys into their own evil empire.

I personally would be looking to migrate off of flicker, and at least have a plan if not actually do it right now. YMMV.

I have the same problem...

Photobucket was very convenient because the link was based on the filename.

eg the picture with the name pic7.jpg got the following link http://i327.photobucket.com/albums/k467/USERNAME/pic7.jpg

Today i tried imgur, flickr and dropbox but the link name will be random. This is a no-go for me because i need to handle big numbers of pictures...

Anybody knows a image hosting site where the link name is based on the file name and the link structure is alwas the same? like in photobucket...

I am also using imgur for many years now without any issues. FYI imgur was created by one of the founders of reddit.com...

I don't blame photobucket for charging something but $400 year for 3rd party linking rights is ridiculous. You guys can get your own domain name and hosting package for less than $100 year and host what you want. There's a little bit of a learning curve in setting it up but once its up and runnings its just as easy to host a photo on your own website as anywhere. I used to host all my own photo's that I linked to on various websites. I've just put my domain name/website back up again. http://www.anthonyglynn.com if your interested. I'm still learning the ins and outs of my new web authoring software, Rapidweaver7 in my case but once you sort out the first one the rest are easy. I'm using http://easyspace.com as my host/registrar but there are even easier/cheaper options out there.
