My friend Dylan from Malaysia is in Japan and came over for a visit. I hope you like our rendition of "Day by Day" from the musical "Godspell."

Thanks, Dylan! I enjoyed working on this song with you!

Bonus points to my UU friends if you can remember the other Stephen Schwartz song I've covered on YouTube.

Thanks, Brenda! Ha ha... nowadays you never know! But if this was split screen, then the high five at the end was an incredible editing job! :)
Have a great 4th of July weekend!

Oops! And I think I was looking at the June calendar anyhow! :p

Nice job!

A great Schwartz tune to cover is Corner of the Sky from Pippin (which was also covered by the Jackson 5)

Thanks, EDW! I'll check it out! :)

I did Godspell in high school! Thanks for another blast from the past!

As for a guess at another Schwartz cover done by you, how about about something from Wicked? I only guess that one since my cat owes his name to it. :)

Thanks, OhioBelle! That must have been a great high school production! :)

Yes, I saw Wicked on Broadway and was inspired to try one of the songs. I tried "For Good." Challenging song but I enjoyed giving it a shot! Great name for a cat, by the way! :)

Thanks, Acmespaceship! I'll check it out!

It was an absolute blast! It's been over 30 years and I still remember how fun it was to sing those songs. I especially loved "Light of the World."

I saw it on Broadway, too! "For Good" is my favorite as well. Now I need to hunt up those chords!

I'm glad you understand my cat naming philosophy. My other cat is called Cosette. :)

Cosette! Love it!

Here are the chords from "For Good":

[ intro: D /// G / A// ]

I've [D] heard it [G] said that people [D] come into our lives
for a [G] reason... bringing [D] something we must [A] learn
and we are [G] led to those who [F#m7] help us most to grow
if we [Bm7] let them and we [E] help them in re[A]turn
[D] Well, I don't [G] know if I be[Gmaj7]lieve that's [Bm] true
But I [Bb] know I'm who I am today be[Gm7]cause I knew [C] you

Like a [D] comet pulled from [G] orbit as it [Em7] passes the [D] sun
Like a stream that meets a [C] boulder [G] halfway through the [A] wood
[D] Who can [Em7] say if I've been [F#m7] changed for the [Bm] better? but-
[G] because I [D] knew you [G D]
[Em7] I [D] have been [A] changed for [D] good /// [G / A //]

It [D] well may [G] be that we will [D] never meet again
in this [G] lifetime... so let me [D] say before we [A] part
So much of [G] me is made of [F#m7] what I learned from you
You'll be [Bm7] with me like a [E] handprint on my [A] heart
[D] and now what[G]ever way our [Gmaj7] stories [Bm] end
I [Bb] know you have re-written mine by [Gm7] being my [C] friend

Like a [D] ship blown from its [G] mooring by a [Em7] wind off the [D] sea
Like a seed dropped by a [C] skybird [G] in a distant [A] wood
[D] Who can [Em7] say if I've been [F#m7] changed for the [Bm] better? but-
[G] because I [D] knew you [G] (because I [D] knew you)
[Em7] I [D] have been [A] changed for [Gm7] good

And just to [C] clear the air I ask for[Gm7]giveness
for the things I've done you [C] blame me for
[Am7] But then I guess we know there's [D] blame to [G] share
and [F] none of it seems to [Gm7] matter anymore [C]

Like a [D] comet pulled from [G] orbit as it [Em7] passes the [D] sun
(Like a ship blown from its mooring by a wind off the sea)
Like a stream that meets a [C] boulder [G] halfway through the [A] wood
(Like a seed dropped by a bird in the wood)
[D] Who can [Em7] say-- if I've been [F#m7] changed for the [Bm7] better?
[G] I do be[D]lieve I have been [A] changed for the [Bm] better, and
[G] because I [D] knew you... [G] because I [D] knew you
[G] because I [D] knew you... [Em7] I have been [D] changed---[A] for [D] good

Thanks, OhioBelle! I really appreciate it!
