A mostly original song about a famous Roy Orbison song.

It was a dirty little honky tonk
On the side of a nowhere road
    I was just a-travelin' through
With no particular place to go
The neon sign out front said it was
    Karaoke night
I needed to make a stop anyway,
And there was no place else in sight

I picked out an empty chair
And the beer, it wasn't bad
It wasn't that good, either, but it was
    The only beer they had
The waitress smiled a knowing smile
    Like only a waitress can
Her face told her life story
And her name tag said, "Lou Ann"

I looked around the little joint
And the crowd was mighty thin
I glanced over at the barkeep
But he just shrugged and grinned
Lou Ann wiped one more table
And a hush fell on the room
When Lou Ann took the microphone
    And machine played Blue Bayou

She sang it like it was the only song
    That she ever knew
    There wasn't a dry eye
    When she sang Blue Bayou

She sang it like she had been there
And knew it was all true
And someday she'd be going back
To the happiest place she knew
Maybe she didn't look or even sound
    Like Linda Ronstadt
But her face told her life story
    "Been there, done that."

    Greetings.

What fun. Long holiday week. Hope to get my brain back. Maybe not, it's better that way.

Im trying to get to some of everyones songs this week. I will be traveling home tomorrow from the mountain and then friday Ill be traveling again to go to my daughters home in Utah. I will try and get something in on Tuesday for you Keith. I haven't had a chance to hunt for a song just yet. I had high hope of getting something done today but I had four doors that leaked this winter and I really needed to get those bottom weather strippings done. Spent a good part of my day on my hands and knees. Im hoping this weeks schedule doesn't mess up my plan to attend this weeks season. I missed nearly everything last week!

Fantastic theme that will bring you tons of entries Keith!

I will be listening when I can. Your off to a great start!
