That's going to be one amazing ukulele! Jake's ukes are certainly some of the finest in the world.

You know how to pick them. In my opinion, few are at Jake's level. His his tone and playability are top-notch, his execution is flawless, his aesthetics are always elegant. Congrats on a what I'm confident will be a spectacular instrument!

Fantastic! I really love the beautiful shape of the instruments that Jake crafts.

That Brazilian rosewood is spectacular, has the figuring of Zircote. The rosette is one of the classiest I have seen. Congratulations, this is going to be one very special instrument.

Jake is building a gorgeous spruce/BRW uke now that will be shown at the Woodstock Guitar Festival (end of October). In the unlikely event it doesn't sell there, it will be available so those wanting to join the Bee Hive might contact him for dibbsies on it. ;-)

You sir are an "Awesome Enabler".............that would make a great t-shirt, just sayin'

I received the Hive in February, 2018. Have been out of the country quite a bit since then.
So here are near complete photos form Jake:

Looks awesome, but who is Jake? A full-time builder, a forum member, both? I'm new around here.

Check out the link Jerryc41 posted above. Jake Maclay is one of the premier ukulele builders working today, and his Hive brand is much sought-after. I've never had the chance to play one, but I'd like to!

Thanks and Will do. Thanks, RichM.

Jake built Compass Rose Ukes for Rick Turner in Santa Cruz CA for many years he was already building his own Hive ukes there with a different design then went out on his own about 6-7 years ago in West Virginia...he built all the Compass Rose ukes up to that point ,mine was one of the last ones he built it was number 315....

I believe Jake is one of the best builders in the World now...I get to see many of his ukes that come through The Ukulele Site(HMS) here his fit/finish is perfect and they have great tone

I met Jake in Santa Cruz in 2012 and again in 2017 at the Ukulele Guild of Hawaii show in Waikiki he was one of the builders of the Luthiers with a Cause..their ukes went for 100k Eddie(Ukulele Eddie here) is one of the founders of the Luthiers with a Cause...
