Notice what you have marked as a C chord is actually a C5 "chord", because it lacks the 3rd.

I don't know that song, but it might suit it like you sayed, depending also of other instruments, because also the guitar chord has the major third in such a low note. So it is used maybe more as a "power chord".

Guitar and normally stringed ukulele have only 3 first srings as same relatively, because the g-string is an octave higher in uke. Because of this you get the same g note also on 4th open string, but when strummed it does not give as strong g note to me with nailless index finger strum. What is best in this case is a matter of taste. C or C5.

Normally harmonically the 5th is the least needed interval in any chord.
