    Default Affordable Custom Luthiers List

    Hello,

    This list is a work in progress, so if you see if failing in anyway, please pass your thoughts along so this list can be improved for all UU members worldwide!

    This list is for custom affordable builders worldwide, not mass produced. It's more about small shop, custom hand made quality.

    The idea here is for the average consumer at an affordable range.

    Please put up what you know, and I'll add them into this list.

    I know you're going to be asked to define "affordable", so I might as well ask now. Under $1000?

    Well the post is about Custom Luthiers, so not sure how broad that idea becomes to each.

    But I've seen what I thought would be considered affordable to most in like the $800-$1500 range, give or take...

    Thanks for pointing this out, I edited the post over.

    "Custom" might also be open to interpretation but some other suggestions might include Spruce House, Hinkle Ukulele, Blue Star Guitar, and Cocobolo Ukuleles

    ETA - also Southern Cross Ukuleles

    Not sure why people are going to have a misunderstanding to the interpretation of custom? It is what it is;

    made or done to order for a particular customer...

    Isn't Spruce House in Canada? The post is for small Uke only builders in the USA.

    Is Blue Star Guitar a large company?

    Aren't Cocobolo Ukuleles built in Nicaragua?

    Sorry can you please edit over your post and put in any small USA Ukulele only builders, if you know any?

    Thanks

    One to consider would be Joel Eckhaus of Earnest Instruments, who is a one-man shop, and also was a student of Roy Smeck. His most popular uke seems to be the 'Strad uke' and was also famously played often on stage by the late, great John King.
