Hi,

I've been playing (sort of) for a few months and am loving it. I found myself with a few ukes in my house (accumulated over many years as ornaments) and after suffering a stroke found myself in need of a fiddly activity to practice my recovering dexterity. After failing to use the plastic monstrosities I had lying about I invested in the first of several trader uppers (Thanks Braz Mraz, I can now shimmy better than my sister Kate, but she was never much of a shimmier).

I live in a soggy corner of the UK, I'm 45 and am happy to meet you all.

Stephen

Hello from a permanently windy part of the UK!

Welcome to UU which I've found it to be a great place; people here have been friendly, welcoming and very well informed. I hope that your recovery goes well. In terms of welbeing I have found a lot of benefits in playing instruments, perhaps it helps body, mind and soul.

It might be difficult for you but if you can get out then I would strongly recommend joining a Uke club to may be two. I've found my club to be supportive of its members, accepting of varying skill levels and just a fun night out.
