I found out the other day that singer/songwriter/guitarist Michael Johnson passed away.
Michael was best known for a string of hits in the late 70's to the early 80's. Bluer Than Blue was his best known.
Michael was an extraordinary guitarist with a background in classical guitar. He also played with The Mitchell Trio while John Denver was a member.
I had the opportunity to hear him live twice in 2013.This man could really play. He was a wonderful live performer who had a wonderful, dry sense of humor.
He hung around for a meet and greet. Michael was a really nice guy who took the time to talk to me about finger picking. He had once played at a festival where Jake was also performing. He had many nice things to say about Jake.
He had battled major health issues over the last ten years but continued to get out and play wonderful live shows. One of the unsung heroes of the music business for sure.
RIP Michael, you will be missed.
