Hi everyone,

I just got a pre-fire Maui Music Soprano. The frets seem to be coming upwards a bit and the intonations are off somewhat. Some minor dings on the finish. I would like to have the uke tuned and dings repaired. I asked the original builder, Mr. Peter Lieberman for the repair but he told me to find someone local for small job like this.

I live in a Morgantown West Virginia. No local luthier. The closest big city is Pittsburgh(1.5 hour away). Anyone know of any good ukulele luthier will accept small jobs in Pittsburgh or someone I can mail my uke in US?

Thank you.

You could call the repair department at Elderly Instruments in Michigan.

I'm not sure who else to mention. I haven't ever sent an instrument to Elderly for repair, but I've dealt with them a lot over the years and had a very positive experience. If it were me, that's who I'd check with first if you have to ship it.

Check with Jake Wildwood. He does great work. He's not close to West Virginia though, so you'd have to ship it. I'm not sure what his turnaround time is for out-of-state repairs, but if it's not major, then I don't think it would take long. Send him an email with some pics of your uke and see what he says.

I am in the Parkersburg area and my local CA House is pretty uke friendly and uke knowledgeable. They change the strings for me and install strap buttons on my ukes. Might want to give them a call.
