There are a couple of ukulele or uke-friendly meetups in NYC, but I haven't found one near me, so I haven't been to one yet. Recently, I took a class with Cynthia Lin (while she was in town) and there were so many people in attendance that Cynthia suggested we start up a jam group. I found a North Brooklyn public library that will host us, and other group members are looking into other neighborhoods. We've got two dates on the books in November.

I mostly lurk in these forums (I've been playing only about 6 months, but constantly), so I hope it's okay if I say you can find us on Facebook if you'd like to join us! https://www.facebook.com/groups/nycukesquad/ For those not on Facebook, we have a Google Group so that we can email folks about jams. Request membership here: https://groups.google.com/forum/#!forum/nycukesquad

Thanks!

I wanted to bump this, as we're about to have our 15th jam this weekend. Attendance is running around 6-8 people per meetup. Anybody else out there from NYC?

What are you doing in May? I will be in NYC May 10th though the weekend.

Through the 13th? You'll just miss Cynthia in NYC. She's performing a concert (two shows) Tuesday May 15 and a Workshop Wednesday May 16.

Our May jam dates have not been set yet, but I'll be happy to pop back into this thread to update you once they are. We usually have a jam in Brooklyn on the second Sunday of the month, which is the 13th. So that might work for you. But that's Mother's Day, so I just want to confirm with the person who runs the venue.
