Hi everyone,

I just got an 20 year old soprano. Can't even tell if the surface was just oil rubbed or satin finished. Definitely no gloss finished. Generally speaking, the surface looks good, there are a few dings and chips (I actually made one myself fresh about 0.5mm), that the wood seems bare. What can I put on it to protect the fresh bare wood from decaying? I read somewhere about lemon oil. Is it the same lemon oil you get in the grocery store for cleaning household furniture? I plan to just dap the bare spots with a Q-tip. I suspect, applying oil to bare wood would at least make it little darker and more resemble the color of the body.

How about if I happen to rub lemon oil on satin finish, will I ruin the finish?

Thanks for any input.
