    Default Rip jon hendricks:

Mr. Hendricks wrote the book on scat. His work with Lambert Hendricks and Ross is legendary. Some of the finest lyrical adaptations to jazz standards ever heard. Truly an original, google Mood Indigo by LH&R and you are in for a treat. Another Icon lost.

I was extremely fortunate to see Lambert Hendricks and Ross performing with the Count Basie Band back in the early 60’s. Joe Williams was also singing with Basie that night.....a truly magical experience. R.I.P. Mr. Hendricks.

Always enjoyed his work. He wrote the lyrics to some iconic jazz instrumentals, like "Birdland" and others.
