Default NUD - 60s Kamaka custom soprano

As I am on vacation in Hawaii I decided to take along a couple of instruments to trade - the ones I never reached for. I found this one and love it. I looked at several one of a kind instruments. This one really sang. It is a gold label, probably from the 60s. It has lovely binding and the koa has wonderful grain.
When I get home it will be set up with Aquila sugar strings and possibly some Pegheds (the ones that were used on Fluke instruments.

Congratulations frianm! I've heard a couple of Kamaka sopranos, they really do sing!
"Those who bring sunshine and laughter to the lives of others cannot keep it from themselves".

Music washes from the soul, the dust of everyday living.

I agree, but originality counts if you're paying for it ..

Sounds like he's putting new tuners on it so maybe "originality" was already accounted for during the trade.

I think Stan might be referring to the tie bridge, but I'm no expert.

Still a beautiful ukulele and if it plays and sounds great that is all that matters for a player.
