Hello all!

I’ve lived in South America for the last 10 years. Here we have a traditional stringed instrument called the Charango, very fun, but I have my heart set on a Uke! My two oldest girls want to learn, so we’re going to do this together. I’ve played the guitar for 20 years, the last 16 of those has been with Classical Guitars.

I look forward to drawing from all of your experience here.

Welcome to UU, that is wonderful that your girls want to learn as well. There are a number of classical guitar players that took up the uke and never looked back. It's great to play both but the uke is so laid back and comfortable to play you can leave it out, just grab it and start playing on a whim

Thanks! I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve heard that it’s a great stringed instruments for kids to start on, and they are pretty excited right now. The plan is to pick up their Ukes (and mine - I just posted in the buyer’s advice area) this summer when we return Stateside for a family visit.
