I am always amazed at the cleanliness of your shop Gerardg. No sawdust or chips or spider webs. Makes the build look so clean. How do you do it?

My "shop", in fact, is a small room of my appartment.
Specialy converted for ukuleles building.
Always a brush not so far,
and vacuum cleaner before, during and after each step...
I have, too, a special corner for me, in carpenter workshop of a friend of mine, for my small band saw, thickness drum sander and so...
But it's my way to do.
Spending a lot of time to clean my workbench ...

The building these days ... carbon tube will be neck stringer.

All my ukuleles have ultra strong carbon tube stringer.

On soft wood like cedar, to prevent bending and also twist.

And, I have noticed ( same uke without stringer, and because twist, stringer installed ) a little but notifiable sustain gain.

Preparing the neck for stringer groove.

On the blog, a video of one of my ukes, a soprano, full curly koa body, made few years ago.

Stringer neck or not ?
For me, regardless of scale, carbon tube stringer in all my ukes necks.
Soft cedar wood, mini thickness neck and fingerboard, crescent moon shape aren't the good way to obtain a stiff neck.
So, carbon tube stringer, glued with epoxy, avoid bend and twist.
And cherry on the cake, carbon tube stringer is a bonus sustain. A little.
All the pics with close up on my blog.
