I know...I know...been asked before. I have these Kluson tulip tuners on a vintage Martin. They work, I don't want to change them, they look cool...but when tuning, I expend serious torque to get them to move, and when they do, it's usually too much, with a resounding creaky sound. The spot where the tuner meets wood (red line), is there a way to make that smoother? I want friction, just smoother friction, if possible. If I loosen the screws any more, they slip. Would wax, peg dope, or some type of washer help at all?
