I think KoAloha is using Worth Clear strings on most or all of their ukulele models, but what string set is on their KoAloha D-VI and Opio KTO-G6 Guitalele models? Looks like the three strings from the bottom might be the same clear Fluorocarbon trebles, but there are three wound strings for the basses.

Can this set be purchased anywhere? What other/similar strings have you been using on this type of tenor scale Guilele for the suggested tuning of A-A?

Thanks, Jim! I'd prefer fluorocarbon, and would like to know what the stock strings are. You're right though, most classical guitar string sets would probably work, and that will be the road I'll take if I don't find out more about the strings used by KoAloha.

I also prefer flouros in general, and unwound too. I'm working on an all unwound set on the Mini that I should be able to report on in the next day or two. It will be decidedly "non standard" tuning though. :p

I'm also looking for string alternatives suitable on 20" and 17" scales guitaleles/guileles. I've used nylon string sets (Cordoba mini A tuning strings and Cordoba mini E tuning strings). The E tuning is quite convenient when jamming with friends as no need to transpose the keys. However, I found the E tuning strings are rather too thick, although quite nice to play as the string tension is much lower. The A tuning string have very high tension also most as if about reaching breaking point.
I'm about to try the Aquila Red series guitalele (153C model). Appreciate if anyone can comment on the how are the Aquila Red series (which I read are made of nylon + copper powder) as comparing to other fluorocarbon strings (such as Pepe Romero Guilele Fluorocarbon Strings UG1): sound characteristics, string tension, string thickness, etc.

The general rule is that if you put a set designed for 17" scale on a 19-20" scale instrument, plan to tune down 2 or 3 semitones so you'll be in same tension range. I did this with the 133C set which is A tuning on 17" and I used it for low GCEA on a baritone uke: http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?131506-Sound-sample-Low-low-GCEA-Rogue-baritone

I've also put the Thomastik Infeld CF127 set as G tuning on a 19" guilele: http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com...aritone-Guilele-Comparison-Cordoba-vs-C1M-1-4

And I designed my own "all unwound fluorocarbon" set for 20" that's really a reentrant F# but would be G on 19" and I think could be fine as G on 20": http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?132353-An-all-unwound-guilele-tuning

Happy hunting!
