We are currently looking for a Lefty Acoustic / electric U-bass to use in our Folk / Gospel group. We are considering a Kala U-bass. Our bass player is a Lefty. We are considering the Kala Solid Mahogany U-bass, or the Kala Exotic Mahogany U-Bass. I also hear that additional Lefty U-Bass-es are due to come out Mid April, (next month), but can't confirm that. There is also the Spruce top Kala U-Bass, as well. We are not leaning towards the Kala Rumbler as we like the onboard volume controls, (which I believe the others have).
Have any of you compared the sound of any of these? Or have you chosen one over another for a particular reason? (Looking for recommendations Please!) Also, we have a Fishman Loudbox Mini for our Kala Baritone Uke and didn't know if we should plug into that , or let the bass player have his own amp. Is there a U-Bass amp that is preferred?
Thank you all for your time and any recommendations.

Also check out the Rondmusic.com bass ukes, good stuff for a good price (http://www.rondomusic.com/ukb23left.html). You can use the Loudbox for the bass, or any bass amp like a small Fender Rumble.

Thank you!

Thank you for the web link. I'm glad to know that the loudbox will work with the UBass. I was afraid that we would need to get a second amp. to make the bass sound good.

Be sure to set the channel where you plug in the bass with more bass and less treble and mids.

I was also VERY dismayed to find out, (from the Kala Company itself), that 1. They are no longer making ANY Lefty U-Basses. 2. They no longer make any solid Mahogany U-Basses. I guess they figured that they were both too hard to sell.
