Here we have a Wabash ukulele from about 1950. I bought it from Jim Beloff at a ukulele event. Neither he nor I have been able to find another that looks like it. He has a picture of it in his book about ukulele history.
It was made by the Wabash company, on Wabash Ave in Chicago. I cleaned it up, put on new tuners and strings, and it plays beautifully. I was surprised that it attracted so much attention when I played it at the Funky Frets Uke Fest last year. Notice the Pearloid on the headstock.
