Where from? More efficient than your import duty laden purchase a few weeks back?

A former Hawaiian supplier who now lives here. It's horses for courses - MG is expensive wherever you get it from...
 
Typically yes, much like with violin wood. It's the aesthetic aspects that make it "master grade" or AAAA or whatnot instead of AA or other lower grades, which may be every bit as good from a sound standpoint but less striking in appearance.
 
Grading is an art more than a science - it not only takes into account flame or curl, but also colour and how ell quarter sawn the piece is. I think the best accessible mastergade examples are on Kanilea instruments - they have some gorgeous stuff.
