p.s my mahalo soprano uke is a complete fluke it is has a great sound and stays in tune unlike the other mahalo's ive tried so im hoping this tenor wll be as good

My 'main' instrument is the Mahalo Tenor. It came, with a hard case for
around £70 and whilst Mahalo's are a mixed bag,I am happy enough
with it.I have done some slight mods to it but nothing drastic. After
buying,I did the usual 'nut and saddle' check for intonation.Saddle
was fine, nut slots needed to be deepened slightly.Changed out the
Aquilas that it came with, which had a wound C string, for a set of
Aquila Tenor plain nylgut ones.Removed the cross brace immediately
above the sound hole, and reduced the one just below the soundhole
to around a quarter of it's original bulk. This improved the sound a lot
and helped to 'open it up' some.I play it every day and it has already
'opened up' a lot from the day I got it,in something like nine months.
If you are not frightened of the 'Mahalo's are rubbish' theory,go for it!

hey thanks

but yeah its many mahalos seem like starters but im confident with buying now
and weres the cross brace  :)

when you got it was it tuned to low g c e a or g low c e a

It was tuned to High G or re-entrant tuning when I got it. I play
re-entrant on all of my ukuleles, have never gone for low G tuning.
It had a wound C string when I got it,but I replaced the strings
with Aquila Plain Nylguts,to remove 'string hiss' when chording.
The cross braces are both visible through the sound hole; one
is immediately above the sound hole, and I removed that one
altogether! The other visible one, is about two inches below the
sound hole and thats the one I reduced,as it was around an inch
deep to start with. Good luck and enjoy it! I know Mahalo's have
a generally poor rep,but they CAN be made fun instruments and
can be really 'user friendly' with a bit of attention. It's just a shame
that the manufacturers don't bother in the first place!
