Cuatro Venezolano

Have cuatro strings on my bari & it sounds full & rich. Tabbing out rock tunes on it to get used to where the notes are (Been doing Led Zep tunes) Also learning to read music for it,in addition to chords. And-got a CD of Venezuelan folk tunes by John Williams on classical guitar!

I went semi-cuatro last week when I put a low-G string on my Kala KA6 six-string tenor 'uke. It is now tuned G-cC-E-Aa so the lower notes predominate on the top and bottom courses, cuatro-like. That is a very deep-toned tenor now! I need to look at the cuatro literature to find how best to use this.

I did a rather decent arrangement of Alma Llanera for my soprano uke in D tuning with a dropped A. Will be switching strings on my concert uke to dropped D tuning as well, and keep my resonator in C tuning for teaching with. Have gotten bit by the Venezuelan music bug!
