Kala ubass tuners

Seems like I remember something from the Largesound site saying the tuners are reversable?

Standard bass tuners...

I just built a bass Uke using standard bass tuners. The most problematic issue was not forcing the strings into the slots but keeping the smallest string on the tuner. I think the big spools on the Road Toads are their biggest advantage.

The set of Hip Shot tuners I got needed work. The post housings are poorly finished and need filing to get them to seat properly. My next bass is going to use Pyramid strings - a better alternative.

A bit late for the original poster but I've managed to find a source of U-Bass tuning machines, Chrome, Black or Gold. The make is "Der Jung" from Taiwan, they look like clones of the Hip-Shots and considerably cheaper. My set has just arrived and they seem good quality to me. They are ideal for Aquila Thundergut strings, the bass side have thicker slots and the treble side are a bit thinner. http://www.magic-guitar-parts.com/e...ObjectPath=/Shops/es337930/Products/342B1-B2B

I buy a Hip Shot license set from BassStringsOnline.com, Y, clover and lollipop shape, satin, chrome, gold or black for about $14-$18 each, so you can buy all one side or 2+2. The slot is just barely big enough to squeeze in the E string. http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Hi...tralite-Y-Key-Bass-Tuning-Machine_p_3095.html

I just found the Der Jung web site in China and emailed them if they have USA distribution, or could I order directly from their web site. Joe there just replied that their US distributor does not import that model, they have a minimum order of 100 for a low price, but I can buy one set for $66 delivered ($41 plus $25 air shipping). I said yes to a chrome set.

Heard back from Der Jung, he says the shipping is $50 so I passed. Going to stick with BassStringsOnline.com for my tuning machines.
