Even though they aren't made anymore, I've been intrigued by the Joe Brown spruce/koa. It seems to look an awful lot like the kala travel uke though. Has anyone tried them both? If so, do they sound distinctively different?

Thanks for any info,

Jeff

I have the Kala Travel Tenor....but never played the other. I love the Kala. It has a nice bright sound. When I take it to festivals, people are amazed by it. It's comfortable to play and not as big as a normal tenor....great for traveling.

I'm guessing that, for all practical purpose, they could be, more or less, the same instrument. LOL How's that for a precisely worded assessment of the situation.
