Best Tenor Gig Bag?

I'd be interested to hear how long you've had the RB and how the velcro neck straps are holding up. I just received one that came with one of the straps not sewn in properly. I was disappointed to say the least and sent it back. I'd heard such good things about them.

My straps are pretty sturdy. I'm more concerned with how long the velcro itself will last.

Oh . . . and I've had it for a couple of years now. Still looks brand new.

Glenn is no longer associated with the company mass producing them due in part to quality standards not up to his standards. He custom makes them from a tracing you send him. He is meticulous with his work and ethic. Think Rick Turner, but making custom ukulele bags. In fact Rick has one for his ukulele that is how I started my research and found Glenn. In other words if you buy one from Glenn it is custom made and of much higher quality.

These look like great cases, but Oh how I wish they were not lime floral. I can't get past that.
Yeah, the color combo is rather fugly.

They're even calling it "floral" on the Fusion site... I thought it was supposed to be some atom thing, like for atomic fusion?

Does anyone have any views on the tomandwill 66UKT versus the Fusion F4? :) I know bazmaz did a review on the former and it turned out pretty good (and looks pretty well padded) but its costing me about 10 more than the F4 and I know Fusion's a good brand

I love the inner lining and the neck rest and straps on these.

Thanks for the info. The one I got made me think it was a weak point in the design the way the straps were sewn it. It was very poorly assembled and looked like it would fail in short order. The rest of the case is amazing, but you have to use the straps every time you put the instrument in or take it out. What a shame. I was truly disappointed and emailed them to tell them they had lost a customer. I have two custom tenors and while the hard shell cases are great for storage, a good gig bag is so much easier to put over your shoulder when you are carrying other gear. I'll have to check out Glenn's custom bags.

Darth,

Unless you were dead set on a gigbag I personally would look at the SUS POD case as well, similar price to the Tom and Will but more protection. Also has shoulder straps too though not as comfortable as some of the back ones.

I'm also in the market for a tenor case but having to go hard case to protect my poor ukes. Not when I go out you understand, it's the dogs, children, wife at home that concern me ;) UK is a difficult place to get quality cases generally, especially in the larger sizes.

Check out the bags on www.lehuaukulele.com for a really well made economy price range bag. The zipper has two pulls; there is a side handle as well as two shoulder straps, and an attachment point at the top so it can be hung on a nail or anything fancier. I have a bright golden yellow and a medium brown. Neither are like everyone else's black bag. They are $29.95 each. There is a zippered slit pocket and a zippered pouch pocket. The padding is 1/4 " closed cell foam. As an upholsterer, I speak padding fluently. On my own tenor case, there is a thick nylon fleece piece which is used when refleecing a saddle. Were I to want additional padding front and back, I would use the small bubble, bubble wrap. It's very light and absorbs a lot of shock. The binding around the edges is polywebbing well sewn with polyester thread. The inside is basic black fabric, and the padding is between the two fabric layers. The bags are made by a friend of the importer, Mr John Porner. They are made in North America.

Read positive reviews for this budget, well padded bag.

Thank you all for your suggestions! Though I'm sorry to the last two guys for not making it clear enough that I'm in the UK :( so unfortunately I can't get US gigbags. Ben, I have definitely considered the SUS Pod, just a little concerned that their shipping is 7 pounds...just for a case. That seems a little extreme, and brings the price up to 30 (from a potential 26 in the case of tomandwill, and 17 in the case of the Fusion F4). Since I haven't heard anything from the F4, the tomandwill apparently has 20mm padding, and bazmaz has kindly done a good review for the same - I think I'll stick to the latter.

And oh my haha, good luck with that! Hard cases are extremely pricy! The reason I don't mind a well padded gig-bag over a soft case is that this will only need to last one anxious journey for me - the ride home to Hong Kong. Once there, I can pass it to my brother and he's not going anywhere dangerous so a gig-bag will be okay.

I saw that you were in the UK. The Postal System was able to get my Stuart Wailing resonator from there to Oregon. They also are able to get the product I sell into the UK. If you can't find what you want in the UK, are you limited to only certain countries?

How much is this bag?

Unfortunately for myself and Darth it's the cost of that international delivery. For example a recent quote for mailing a $75 Oahu case from Hawaii to the UK was nearly $60. I appreciate that a gig bag will be a lighter and smaller package so less expensive but it does add up.

I avoided the fusion bag for a different uke as I felt it looked like I was carrying a badminton racket.

Glenn Cronkite doesn't make bags/cases for ukuleles, only for non cutaway acoustic guitars.
