I don't think I'm going to get around to doing an Elvis Cover (the only song of his I love is "In the Ghetto") - so here is one for this, more open, Season 50B.
It was inspired by the sheer number of garbage arguments I have heard in bars of late as to who is to blame for the current crisis, which is biting ever deeper here in Catalonia (and Spain).
I'm giving my Epiphone Les Paul its first public airing here too:
BTW there appears to be a glitch at one point on the video. That is not there on the original, it must have been a transference problem. But I'm not sure it is worth having my PC out of action for the 45 minute upload time I would need for a fresh upload.
LYRICS:
Blame
Blame the poor, the weak, the needy,
For the shape this world is in.
Blame that immigrant from Mali
With his life affirming grin.
Don’t blame the world’s top millionaires
Who each earn a country’s wealth,
And if you blame the Media Barons,
Then you better blame yourself.
It’s easy to apportion blame,
To point the scapegoat out,
It’s easy to invent a tale
That gossips bandy about.
But ask yourself: “Who stands to gain
When the lies have gone to press?”
Do I need to name the names?
Or have you already guessed?
Blame the lost, confused and hopeless,
For the spiritual decline.
Blame that single mum on benefit,
For lack of faith in the divine.
Don’t blame the pope, don’t blame the priests
Don’t remind them of their crimes!
Don’t blame their rigid doctrines that
Have not moved with the times. CHORUS
Blame the young school leavers,
For the lack of common sense,
Blame that misinformed young skinhead,
For all this sitting on the fence.
Don’t blame the politicians
Who don’t live up to their ideals.
Don’t blame the fleet street hack who tells us,
How to think, react and feel. CHORUS
