I see there are several videos on YT but I wondered if anyone knew of tabs or a songbook that has a solo uke arrangement (melody and chords) for this song.

I generally can watch the YT vids and figure it out but none of the posters really give a clear view of the fretboard while they are playing.

Here is how I play it. The programme has slightly moved the chords out of position, but use your intuition and you'll get it. ....Hope it's useful , anyway.

Cheers,

Berni

The long and winding road

       Bm G D	D7 G
The long and winding road that leads to your door
	F#m Bm Em A D D7
Will never disappear, I've seen that road before
G F#m Bm	Em A D
It always leads me here, leads me to your door.

The wild and windy night that the rain washed away
Has left a pool of tears, crying for the day.
Why leave me standing here? Let me know the way.
D G F#m Em
Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried,
D G F#m Em
Anyway you'll never know, the many ways I've tried.

And still they lead me back, to the long, winding road
You left me standing here, a long, long time ago
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to your door.

But still they lead me back, to the long winding road
You left me standing here, a long, long time ago (ohhh)
Don't keep me waiting here (don't keep me waiting)
Lead me to your door. (yeah yeah yeah yeah)

Using these tags (Code; /Code enclosed in brackets [*****]) in an editor (notepad) will align the chords over the lyrics.

Code:
       Bm G
   The long and winding road
         D D7 G
   that leads to your door
 G F#m Bm Bm
   Will never disappear
 Em A D D7
   I've seen that road before
 G F#m Bm
   It always leads me here
 Em A D
   leads me to your door

That's magic! How did you do that Kanaka? I copied from Word, but it lost the alignment. Which "Tags" are you referring to above?

I just edited my previous thread. You also need to use a proportional font such as Courier New and Consolas.

Thanks. I just tried that. Dashingly simple ;). It doesn't put them exactly as they are in the word file, but they are more orientative.

Can we actually upload word files as attachments anywhere on the site?

Oh... and apologies to Big Sky for steering this conversation into other areas. But I hope you will benefit from it! :)

The best way to post Word Docs would be to use a separate server like Dropbox or Media Fire and provide a download link.

OK will do that. I'll try Media Fire, I've only had hassle with drop-box - entire photo collections being shared disappearing, etc.

Incidentally, I tried changing the font to Courier New and reposting, but in the preview pane it was obvious it hadn't worked, so I didn't actually publish.

Again, apologies Big Sky. I hope you find my version useful :)

Thank you both!! I have been sounding out the song but for me it's a long, slow process - this really helps.

You can copy and paste it to Notepad and save it as a .txt file or you can paste it in Word as a .doc file. If you change the font to New Times Roman, you may have to edit the document to align the chord names to the lyrics . . .
