My first uke was a tenor, but the stretch was too much for my hands at the time, tried soprano but found it too cramped, then got a concert & found it to be the perfect size to learn on.
I've been through a fair few ukes in my two years learning, but have returned to tenor scale, albeit on smaller bodies than a standard sized tenor, & now find that long neck concerts fit me best.
