Papa Lemon

On the "Papa" album, does he play with a pick? Some of that is dang fast. It's an outstanding album.

You can also buy it directly from link above at Down Home music store which is the birthplace of Arhoolie Records actually vice versa. There's a documentary film that came out about the owner Chris Strachwitz who founded Arhoolie records. He has collected and curated an amazing Treasure Trove of roots music. If you're ever in the San Francisco Bay Area it's worth a trip to the store. So glad that Smithsonian Folkways have taken over Arhoolie since Chris is in his eighties and won't be here forever to preserve the wonderful music. I have been lucky enough to go to music parties at this location. It houses the store and thousands of archival records now part of the Arhoolie Foundation. Either way you are supporting local independent music in service of preserving down home roots music.
Here's a link to the film trailer.
So glad to read a post about it. You can certainly contact Down Home music to find out if they have any other historic ukulele CDs. I recall a Hawaiian one but the store will know all of them.

I got my cd in the mail yesterday. Listened to it today on the way to and from work. Fabulous stuff! I particularly enjoyed the commentary about neighborhoods and people he played with in the past.
