Binding question...

Anyone know what that red line is on the binding?

Image is pretty small, so hard to be certain. My guess though is that it is red dyed maple. Just saying cause I've got some in various colors on the shelf.

Hard to tell from the picture, but I'm with Allen. Probably dyed maple or holly. When you put a colored veneer up against abalone, it can ply tricks on the eye....will also bring out different colors in the abalone.

If you want to know for sure, just ask Shawn.

It looks a little thick to be dyed fiber, but it is hard to tell.
