Hey gang, this is a "new" collection made available for the first time of Lemon Lash's uke recordings made between 1959 and 1961. And it's amazing. Papa travelled around Louisiana busking, doing medicine shows, playing in tents, solo and with a ragtag bunch of friends for nigh on 1/2 a century and his songs are full of wry humour, the wisdom of experience and a virtuosic command of the fretboard.

It's just great stuff - especially for those with an ear for blues - ragtime, folk interspersed with some fantastic stories from a bygone era in Louisiana.

And a GREAT sound given these recordings were made over 50 years ago. Just one man and a ukulele. This is a piece of social history. And it's almost an hour of fabulous music to boot.

Hop on over to Arhoolie Rekkids and get youse-self a copy.

Great music and history. It's also available for a listen on Spotify.

Yes, this is an absolutely incredible album by a master of the uke, Papa Lemon Nash. The CD contains an excellent selection of classic ragtime and blues songs. The spoken anecdotes and stories offer insight to this colorful real life character. I learned of this album on the Flea Market music site about a month ago. The CD can be purchased there as well as on Amazon.com (where ya can listen to samples). Highly recommended!!

Thanks Dirk and Jon for the heads up! Watched yours earlier, Jon, and wasn't surprised that it was awesome! Now get cracking on the rest of the album and keep 'em comin' haha. Cheers! -- Matt
