Korg KR mini

Is this something that you will use to play out or record at home or both?

I don't really have any experience with the Korg but here are a couple of reviews.

If you want to mess with free drum beat software on your computer, while you are looking for a hardware option, download Hydrogen

Hammerhead is one my wife and I used to use when we wanted to keep a beat while recording

I've got one. It's very basic, not many frills. The basic beat patterns it comes with are all variations on 4/4. If you want anything else, you might be able to program it to do so, but I haven't tried. I'm by no means a drummer, and daunted by the thought of tapping in my own pattern. That said, it works well, and you can adjust the tempo and volume easily. Good for practice on songs where keeping the beat is a bit more of a challenge due to syncopation, back beats, etc.
