Back in the 80's when Vegas was trying to be family friendly Circus Circus was kind of a nice place. Last time I was there it was really run down and sad. Vegas is way different now. Gone are the days of the $1.50 prime rib dinners and inexpensive hotels. I guess the old strip still has some "deals" but for the most part it is a very expensive place. A $100 room is an absolute dump anywhere near the new strip.
Hobby/skill....spin tops. VERY addictive! I, and some of my juggling friends, have been having lots of fun with them, lately....
Separate parts of the building.
Gambling is entertainment for me. I have no expectations of making money and I can walk away at any time. Not so for everybody. It is quite sad to see people chase their money. I've grown up with going to the racetrack, Reno, poker games etc. I've never seen it for anything more than entertainment. I guess I'm lucky in that regard.
I see what you mean though.
If asked, my mother would say WE were in the service...or, WE retired from the Air Force, or that WE got promoted. Yup, I know exactly what you are talking about....

Since my dad is an alcoholic I am sure I get a little ridiculous about it. I think I have had two drinks in front of my daughter in her whole life.

Tannerite, specifically blowing up pumpkins with tannerite. Makes me sad you can't get pumpkins year round.
Both of my parents were alcoholics. Strangely enough, my mother didn't become one until many years after she suffered through it with my father. My upbringing is the reason I don't drink alcohol. My daughter has never seen me take a drink, as I quit before she was born, having promised myself I would never do to my family what my father did to his.
Despite my modeling, as an adult she chooses to drink occasionally. Her husband is into beer and microbreweries as a hobby. I don't think either of them abuse it, but I must admit that I secretly wish they would both give it up....

I've got a cousin that is and always has been a real brat, she married a captain (who was a weird guy) and became an instant expert on everything concerning the military and war. I still remember telling everyone repeatedly that the Gulf War "was going to be a blood bath", she seemed to love saying that.
