Does ukuleles with wooden tuners/pegs have thinner than normal heads?

I'm trying to determine if a ukulele originally could have had wooden pegs. On old guitars the heads are decidedly thinner than heads with metallic tuners. Is this also the case for ukuleles?
Photos welcome

Do you mean friction pegs like on a violin? I think that slightly conical holes might be a better indicator than thickness for this.

Yes friction pegs. You can't determine hole size after somebody has replaced them with mechanical tuners.
