Hello guys! I am not sure I am in the right section of the forum, therefore I apologize if this question needs to be asked somewhere else. Please let me know or move it if you have such ability.

I am looking at vintage Martin Style3 Uke for sale and description says it's from 1940's, but it has wooden pegs for tuner. My question is for vintage Martin specialists, how can it be? All my research tells me that Martin stopped using pegs in mid 20's. Based on the Martin logo on headstock this uke is newer, yet it has pegs. Could it be war-time production exception? Or what am I missing? Please see the pictures. Thank you.

I don't know what happened to the tuners but the fretboard is not from 20s. The dots came later. Check if your local library has Martin uke book which goes into details for how to id the year approximately

Thanks, I actully got a bit more info. Seller says it is a war-time production, therefore the wooden pegs. So, I guess I just need a confirmation that indeed Martin used wooden pegs on ukes during a WWII.

Martin went to wood pegs for a time during WW2. I have a Martin tenor from that era with wood pegs. Also the decal dates it post 1932.

Oh, thanks! I think my curiosity is satisfied.

I love those wooden tuners, personally. This is a terrific combination of appointments!
